new X Levitation Cult Benefit Show

X Levitation Cult will perform a special acoustic show on Saturday, June 21st, for the benefit of the Komen for the Cure Chicagoland Affiliate. Joie will be joined again by guitarist Jon Skibic. Adding her support, local favorite Leigh Evin McCullough, will open the show. Those of you who were at the 2007 dadafanfest will remember Leigh; she & her band performed at our pre-party!

The benefit will take place at The Leg Room, located at 7 W. Division Street, in Chicago's Gold Coast. Doors open at 7 pm. A $20 per person donation will be collected at the door, and includes one drink. 100% of the musicians' net proceeds from the event will be donated.

Komen for the Cure is the nation's largest funding source for research dedicated solely to breast cancer, and a cause that's very important to Joie, as it is to many of us. We will be making a donation to Komen from the Friends of X Levitation Cult. If you won't be in Chicago on June 21st, please consider making a donation through the XLC website store.

new dada Benefit CD
The guys have donated the song "72 Hours" to the Musicians For Minneapolis benefit album. It's a 57-song compilation on 3 CDs with all proceeds benefiting the I-35W Bridge Disaster Relief Fund. In addition to dada the set features such artists as Sparklehorse, Los Lobos, Calexico, Howe Gelb, Simple Kid, DJ Spooky, Les Claypool, Bobby Bare Jr., Lee Scratch Perry, George Clinton, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai and others. Michael Gurley has co-written and produced the theme song for VH1's show, Free Radio with the band Billy Boy on Poison. Gurley is producing Billy Boy on Poison's next record as well as co-writting with them. And in the "This is just damned enteraining to watch" category, Gurley's nephews have posted a video to YouTube showcasing his alter-ego, "One String Willy." Check it out here.
