How To Be Found

Many readers will remember this Southern California trio for their four major label albums in the '90s, the top five modern rock hit "Diz Knee Land," and the sharp eared among you may even know that Dada's "I'm Feeling Nothing" was the first song featured in the The Brady Bunch Movie! After a four-year hiatus, during which time members Michael Gurley and Phil Leavitt formed a band called Butterfly Jones (who released a fine album in 2001), Dada is back strong with a new album, How To Be Found. This disc proves that Dada hasn't lost a thing, as they're still as tight, clean, and professional a band as anyone in the business, with ultra-strong harmonies and a keen rhythmic sensibility. How To Be Found is a smorgasbord of styles, from sparkling rock 'n' roll to power pop to easy rock, all of which deftly varies effects and tempos and is ultimately "masculine." Tracks like "Nothing Like You" and "Crumble" could certainly be found on today's radio waves, "Guitar Girl" is sort of an answer to Bread's "Guitar Man," and the sexy, laid back "Blue Girl" might in fact remind one of Bread. Other standouts include the taut, powerful "I Wish You Were Here Now," and the utterly catchy "What's Happening To Steven."

One listen to How To Be Found will have you saying "Hello, Dada, it's so nice to have you back where you belong!." Check out www.dadatheband.com.
